.bb is the ccTLD for Barbados. It is managed by the Telecommunications Unit of the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Smart Technology under the Government of Barbados.[1]

Delegation History[edit | edit source]

.bb was delegated on September 1991 to the University of Puerto Rico. In 1996, Cable & Wireless (C&W) assumed the management of the domain name. A 2001 Memorandum of Understanding was then later signed between the Government of Barbados and both Cable & Wireless (Bartel) Ltd. and its sister company Cable & Wireless (BET) Ltd., to continue the administration of the ".bb" domains until the government selected alternate directives.[2] In November 2007, .bb was again relegated to the Telecoms Unit within the Government of Barbados.[3]

Rules and Restrictions[edit | edit source]

  • Applicants must have a local presence to register a ".bb" domain.
  • All persons desirous of obtaining a ".bb" Domain Name must complete the Domain Name Registration Application Form TU052 and submit a fee payment.

Characters[edit | edit source]

No one-character domains are allowed. Special permission may be granted by the Chief Telecommunications Officer for two-character domain names.[4]
