.bf is the ccTLD for Burkina Faso. It is managed by the Autorité de Régulation des Communications Electroniques et des Postes (ARCEP)[1] (English: Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications and Posts). Association Burkinabè des Domaines Internet (ABDI) is the official registry of .bf by delegation from ARCEP.[2]
Delegation History[edit | edit source]
The top-level domain .bf was initially delegated in March 1994 to the University of Ouagadougou. At some later point, prior to the establishment of ICANN, responsibility for the domain was delegated to Délégation Générale à l'Informatique (DELGI), a governmental entity. In November 2008, a new law was enacted in Burkina Faso, which explicitly appointed the Autorité de Régulation des Communications Electroniques (ARCE) responsibility for the country's ccTLD. Also, DELGI was desbanded. ICANN received on 2011 a request for the redelegation from DELGI to ARCE, which was granted.[3]
