.lu is the ccTLD for Luxembourg. It is managed by RESTENA.[1]

Rules and Restricions[edit | edit source]

Domain names may be registered by legal entities and natural persons. Any entity may become the holder of a domain name .lu, independent of its place of establishment.

Domain names clearly contrary to public order or offending common decency cannot be registered.[2]

It is the responsibility of the registrant to certify that neither the registration nor the use of the domain name will directly or indirectly affect the rights of a third party.[3]

Characters[edit | edit source]

A domain name:

  • includes between 1 and 63 alphanumeric characters;
  • may correspond to an Internationalized Domain Name (IDN) that, in addition to ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) alphanumeric characters (a-z) (0-9), also incorporates accented characters used in the Luxembourgish, French, and German languages: à, â, ä, æ, è, é, ê, ë, î, ï, ô, ö, œ, ù, û and ü;
  • may include one or more hyphens ('-') as a single character, except as the first or last character.[3]
