.mii is a Brand TLD that was proposed in ICANN's New gTLD Program. The applicant was MiTek USA, Inc.[1] Mitek does not appear to have selected a registry provider nor created a plan for implementation, as the responses to all public registry questions only state: "TLD will not be resold. Purchased for brand protection only." It is also applying for .mitek and .sapphire and .connectors.
The application was later rejected by ICANN by the String Similarity Panel given the strings confusing appearance to the already existent .mil, a TLD exclusively used by the U.S. military. It was the first such TLD to face such an announced ruling from ICANN.[2] The string was later withdrawn by the applicant.
