.mm is the ccTLD for Myanmar. It is managed by the Ministry of Transport and Communications.[1]

Starting from October 1, 2019, the Department of Telecommunications started operating as the .mm Domain Registry, and Myanmar Posts and Telecommunications (MPT), Yatanarpon Teleport Public Co., Ltd, and Myanmar Technology Gateway Co., Ltd started acting as .mm Domain Registrars.[2]

Rules and Restrictions[edit | edit source]

All applicants shall either be Myanmar entities or in the case of natural persons, at least permanent residents of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.[3]

Reserved Domain Names[edit | edit source]

The following Names shall be reserved and shall not be available for registration for the public:

  • Country / State / Province / District / City / Town / Village Tract / Ward / Village Name and related short codes;
  • Names related to the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and related short codes and abbreviations;
  • Names related to Religions;
  • Names related to Banks or Finance Companies, including short codes;
  • Geographical Names, including short codes;
  • Trademark Names;
  • Names which may be considered scandalous, obscene, offensive, indecent and/or contrary to public norms of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, or Names which give the connotation that such Names are directly or indirectly obscene and scandalous.[3]

Second-level Domains[edit | edit source]

The following second-level domains are available:

  • .biz.mm
  • .com.mm
  • .net.mm
  • .pro.mm
  • .org.mm
  • .edu.mm
  • .name.mm
  • .per.mm
  • .gov.mm
  • .hluttaw.mm

Each of them has a series of criteria and requirements to be followed, which can be checked on Article 9 of the Document Eligibility Criteria and Allocation Guidelines for Third Level .mm Domain Name.[3]

Characters[edit | edit source]

A Domain Name under the .mm ccTLD may comprise any alphanumeric character and multilingual characters such as Myanmar language script character.

All .mm Domains names must:

  • be at least 2 (two) character long;
  • cannot begin or end with a hyphen ("-");

An ASCII .mm Domain Name shall contain only letters (a-z), numbers (0-9) and hyphens (-), or a combination of these.

A non-ASCII .mm Domain Name shall contain only Myanmar script character, numbers (0-9) and hyphens (-), or a combination of these.[3]
