.na is the ccTLD for Namibia. It is managed by the Namibian Network Information Centre.[1]

Rules and Restrictions[edit | edit source]

In the official website for the .na registry, there is no indication of how to register a domain name, nor a registrar list as of October 2024. According to the website TLD-List, "anyone can buy a .na domain name, there are no restrictions based on citizenship or location. Businesses, individuals, and organizations globally are allowed to register for a .na domain."[2]

The official website, however, does provide an Acceptable Use Policy, which mandates that domains under .na are used solely for lawful purposes. Prohibited activities include:

  • Intellectual and Industrial Property Infringement: Unlawful distribution or linking of material that infringes copyrights, design rights, trademarks, patents, or trade secrets.
  • Unauthorized Use and Confusion: Using domain names similar to recognized personal, business, or trademarked names that could deceive or mislead others, infringe on rights, or cause brand confusion. Misleading users about sponsorship or affiliation, or intentional deception is forbidden.
  • Bad Faith Use: Registering domain names primarily to disrupt others' activities, cause confusion, profit unfairly, or create blocking registrations against pre-existing rights.
  • Illegal Content Distribution: Unlawful sharing of trade secrets, obscene materials, indecent images, and content considered obscene or offensive by Namibian standards.
  • Defamatory, Violent, or Threatening Content: Sharing defamatory content, racial vilification, criminal incitement, or content in contempt of court orders.
  • Export Control Violations: Distributing software or technical information that breaches export control laws.
  • Privacy Violations: Publishing or sharing private or personal data without consent, violating privacy rights.[3]
