.rs is the ccTLD for Serbia. The letters "rs" stand for Republika Srbija (Republic of Serbia, the country's name in Serbo-Croatian). It is managed by the Serbian National Internet Domain Registry (RNIDS).[1]

Rules and Restrictions[edit | edit source]

The registrant may be a legal entity or natural person. By entering a contractual relationship, and registering a domain name, the registrant explicitly declares and certifies that, to the best of their knowledge, the registration of the desired domain name does not infringe the intellectual property rights or other subjective right of a third party, and that all information provided in the registration application is truthful and complete. The registrant also must declare that the domain name is not being registered contrary to the principles of good faith, honesty and good business practice, and that the domain name will not knowingly be used contrary to these principles.[2]

Second-level Domains[edit | edit source]

  • .co.rs: intended for business entities;
  • .org.rs: intended for other parties with the status of legal entity which are not registered for commercial activity;
  • .edu.rs: intended for institutions and organisations registered for educational activities;
  • .in.rs: intended for individuals;
  • .ac.rs (delegated): intended for the academic, scientific and research network of Serbia;
  • .gov.rs (delegated): intended for the government bodies of the Republic of Serbia.[2]

Characters[edit | edit source]

A domain name may contain digits (0-9), letters of the English alphabet (a-z) and hyphens (-), as well as letters of the Latin scripts used in the Republic of Serbia[2], which are ß, á, â, ä, ç, é, ê, é, î, ó, ô, ö, ú, ü, ý; plus the extended latin characters ă, ą, ć, č, ď, đ, ę, ě, ĺ, ľ, ł, ń, ň, ő, ŕ, ř, ś, ş, š, ţ, ť, ů, ű, ź, ż and ž.[3]

The length of a segment may not be shorter than two (2) nor longer than sixty-three (63) ASCII characters after ACE (ASCII-Compatible Encoding). A segment may not contain a hyphen at the start or the end, or two consecutive hyphens as the third and fourth characters.[2]
