Industry Participation

Dr. Al-Zoman attends and presents at industry conferences, such as those associated with the IGF.[3] He is an expert on IDNs and has worked extensively to implement Arabic based TLDs.[4][5] A list of some his presentations at Industry conferences is found below. His participation in international conferences, such as those related to the WSIS, is often focused on regional issues regarding Arabic IDN implementation and the means to develop the Arab Information Society.[6]

Abdulaziz called for the removal of seemingly unnecessary and racially problematic language in ICANN's new TLD guidebook regarding "terrorists".[7]

Opposition to .GAY gTLD

In July 2012, Dr. Al-Zoman became the first person to write in opposition to the proposed .gay gTLDs in the ICANN new gTLD comment forum. Having benefited personally from being educated in Canada, an open and tolerant society, Dr. Al-Zoman wrote, "The applied-for gTLD string (gay) is not welcomed in many societies and communities and is against the law and public morality."[8]
