Barry Leiba is an Area Director for Applications and Real-Time at IETF. He has been active in the IETF since the mid-1990s and is an author of a number of proposed standards. He has previously served on the IESG and the IAB, and is currently a member of ICANN's Security and Stability Advisory Committee (SSAC). He is currently the Director of Internet Standards at Futurewei Technologies.
Leiba worked at IBM from 1997 to 2009 and ended his tenure as a Senior Technical Staff Member at IBM’s Thomas J. Watson Research center. He is also an Assistant Editor in Chief for IEEE Internet Computing Magazine.
During his time with IBM, Leiba was listed as an inventor on a number of patents, including patents related to anti-spam technology and context services technology. He is a named inventor on seventeen patent applications.
