Chris Disspain is Chair of The Management Team at The Brooke Consultancy and the Non-Executive Director of Governance at The Global Brain Data Foundation.

Career History[edit | edit source]

Disspain is the former CEO of .au Domain Administration Ltd. auDA which manages the .au domain space for the benefit of Australian Internet users. On March 24, 2016, AuDA announced that Disspain would be departing from the organization in order to make room for new leadership.[1] From its foundation in June 2004, until he stood down in March 2011, Chris was the Chair of the Country Code Name Supporting Organisation (ccNSO), the body that represents the interests of and sets global policy and best practice for country code top-level domains (ccTLDs) within ICANN.

From 2006 to 2014, Chris was a member of the United Nations Secretary-General's Internet Governance Multi-stakeholder Advisory Group.

Contribution to the Internet in Australia[edit | edit source]

Chris’s work with these organizations ensured that the Australian Internet-using community has a voice and representation in some of the most influential forums. In his time as CEO for auDA, Chris was responsible for establishing a range of community programs, for the support and growth of the Internet in Australia:

  • The Australian Internet Governance Forum (auIGF)
  • The Australia & New Zealand Internet Awards (ANZIA)
  • The auDA Foundation
  • Community Geographic Domain Names (CGDN)
