Executive Committee

ICANN's Executive Committee, Executive Committee of the Board (BEC) or Executive Committee of the ICANN Board was established by resolution on November 4, 1999.

According to the resolution, the Executive Committee "will have and may exercise all of the powers of the Board in the oversight of the management of the business and affairs of the Corporation, including, without limitation, financial matters." Also, the Committee "will keep a written record of all actions taken by it and will report such actions to the Board at the regular meeting of the Board next following the meeting of the Executive Committee at which such action is taken."

Charters

The Committee's first charter was approved on October 28, 2010. The second charter was adopted and approved by the Board on November 2, 2017. The most recent charter was approved on October 26, 2023.

Members

According to the resolution that created the Committe, the members of the Executive Committee consist of the Chairman of the Board of ICANN and of such other Directors (not less than one) as the Board determines from time to time, each of whom serves as the Board wishes. The document appointed, in addition to the Chairman (at the time, Esther Dyson), Michael M. Roberts, Pindar Wong, Alejandro Pisanty, and Hans Kraaijenbrink as members.
