Domain Name Security Threat Information Collection and Reporting Project
The Domain Name Security Threat Information Collection and Reporting (DNSTICR) is a project led by the ICANN Office of the Chief Technology Officer investigating registrations related to the COVID-19 pandemic. It seeks evidence of any activity related to malware or phishing. The ICANN Organization sends a report to the responsible registry or registrar when it finds malicious activity in one of its domain names so that it can act. In late spring 2022, ICANN org began adding terms in English, Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, and other languages to the DNSTICR watchlist to search for malicious domain registrations related to the Russia-Ukraine war.
