The ICANN Board Workgroup for Applicant Support was a small, Board-member-only team that the Board set up in the Dakar Meeting in October 2011 to translate the Joint Applicant Support Working Group recommendations into a concrete, time-bound Applicant Support Program.[1] The group was chaired by Director Chris Disspain.[2]

History[edit | edit source]

In April 2010, the Joint Applicant Support Working Group was formed in order to evaluate and propose recommendations regarding support for New gTLD applicants.[3] Their Final Report was published on September 2011[4] and posted for Public Comment by ICANN in October 2011.[5]

Board Resolution 2011.10.28.21, during the ICANN Meeting in Dakar, resolved that a working group of Board members was convened to oversee the scoping and implementation of the recommendations arising out of that Report. The president and CEO was expected to commence work immediately.[1]
