The Japan Registry Service Co., Ltd. (JPRS) was incorporated on December 26, 2000. Its mandate is to manage the .jp ccTLD, including the operation of the registry and DNS servers.[1] It was founded by resolution of JPNIC, which at the time was the manager of the ccTLD.[1]

As of 2025, the President is Koki Higashida.[2]

.jprs[edit | edit source]

JPRS applied for and was awarded a new gTLD during the New gTLD Program's application process. The .jprs domain was intended for use in research and policy development. It also afforded JPRS an opportunity to learn about new gTLD management and procedures so that it could advice other Japanese applicants.[3]
