Simon Knoll

Simon Knoll is a licensed German attorney at BEST Rechtsanwälte / Attorneys ("BestIP") with a LL.M.-degree in Intellectual Property (IP) from the University of Turin. He is particullarly active in the fields of IP and Unfair Competition Law but with practical experience also in the fields of media-, IT-, data protection-, insolvency-, taxes and sports law.

Beginning in 2012 Simon Knoll studied law at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, Germany and at the University of Szeged, Hungary.

After completing his first state examination, he participated in a joint master’s programme of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the University of Turin, Italy, in the field of IP (master’s thesis: “The liability of intermediaries under the draft directive on copyright in the digital single market”; implemented as Directive (EU) 2019/790).

From 2019 onwards, he followed his legal clerkship at the Regional Court in Hanau. During this time, he gained practical experience in the areas of IP, unfair competition, IT and data protection law in the course of internships. After a one-year employment with a boutique law firm specialised in IP and competition law in Frankfurt am Main, he worked for a British law firm in Frankfurt am Main and Düsseldorf for one year.

Since June 2021, Simon obtained his attorney's license and started his professional carreer at BestIP in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Due to a significant increase cases involving domain abuse, Simon participated for the first time at the ICANN78 Annual Conference in Hamburg on behalf of BestIP.
