In a press-release posted August 10, 2015, Google co-founder Larry Page revealed that the company, now recognized as [[Alphabet]] will use the .xyz extension (as abc.xyz). This new extension use by one of the largest Internet conglomerates is seen by many as a significant validation of the domain industry and its efforts to broaden usage from [[.com]] to more carefully defined extensions.
