From 2006 until 2009, Robinson served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Group NBT, where he was responsible for the group's product management, software development, technical operations, service delivery, commercial media relations, project acquisitions and integration, as well as M&A strategy, prospecting and execution support. From 1997 until 2001, he worked for Net Benefit Plc as Chief Executive Officer and he was responsible in listing the company at the London Stock Exchange and acquisition of several companies. In 2001, he assumed the position of Business Development Director of Net Benefit plc and supervised technical operations and product and software development until 2005. He also served as Director of Nominet UK Ltd from 2003 until 2006. From 1998 until 1999, Robinson was the Deputy Chairman of [[CORE]], a non-profit membership association of internet domain name registrars accredited by [[ICANN]].
