Escalera joined ICANN as a member of the gTLD Team on 31 October 2011 as the team's administrative assistant. She then moved on to become a Business Analyst for the team and in 2015 changed departments to become the Coordinator for the NextGen@ICANN program under the Development and Public Responsibility Department.
