The International Telecommunications Union ([[ITU]]) in general has been actively involved in the establishment of [[ICANN|Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers]] in 1998. It is one founding members of ICANN’s Protocol Support Organization ([[PSO]]) and a member of the Government Advisory Council ([[GAC]]).
