==Application for .NYC==
The New York City government through the DoITT applied for the .nyc [[GeoTLD| geographical TLD]] with [[ICANN]]'s [[New gTLD Program|new gTLD expansion program]]. The agency started its initiative since 2009 by issuing an RFP to interested parties to become its partner in managing the operations of the .nyc registry and a RFI to seek the advice and opinions regarding the plan and how to use and administer the .nyc domain string from internet stakeholders in the city.<ref>[http://www.nyc.gov/html/doitt/html/news/pr100509.shtml DoITT Seeks Partner to Administer & Promote ".NYC"]</ref>
Neustar was selected by the DoITT to become its partner in operating the .NYC TLD. Neustar agreed to help develop application and pay $185,000 application fee, post application fees and $25,000 annual fee once the TLD is approved by ICANN.
