On March 10, 2012, NTIA rejected ICANN's proposal to continue to manage the operations of the IANA functions and the bids submitted by other entities. While [[NTIA]] never actually confirmed that it had initially recieved ICANN's bid, it was later accepted after the presumed rejection. On June 2, 2012, outgoing CEO [[Rod Beckstrom]] made signing the new IANA contract his last act as CEO.
