On Friday, September 24, [[Fadi Chehadé]] assumed the role of [[ICANN]] President and CEO, two weeks ahead of his October 1st start date. On his first day in the position, he implemented notable hierarchical changes, including: the creation of a dedicated compliance department, headed by [[Maguy Serad]]; the hiring of [[Sally Costerton]] as Head of Stakeholder Relations and Communications, and [[Tarek Kamel]] as Head of Governmental Affairs, both of whom were previously considered for the ICANN CEO position; and moving [[Kurt Pritz]] from registry/registrar and new gTLD oversight to become the Chief Strategy Officer. All of these executive positions, as well as [[ICANN Board|Board]] General Counsel and Secretary [[John Jeffrey]] and Vice President of Policy [[David Olive]], will report directly to Mr. Chehadé.

Nominet, the registry for the [[.uk]] [[ccTLD]] is in the news for its proposal to open up registrations for the English [[ccTLD]] and the [[Second Level Domain|second level]].
