He is one of the founders of Institute for Networking Design in Tokyo. From 1987 to 1992 Aizu served as secretary general of the Networking Forum. He joined [[GLOCOM]] as a Planning Manager in 1991, and in 1993 he joined Hyper Network Society as Research Director. In 1997, Izumi Aizu moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and founded Asia Network Research. From 1998-2000 Aizu worked as the Secretary General of the Asia & Pacific Internet Association.
