Alexander was born in 1976 in Saarbrücken, Germany. From 1983 to 1986, he attended the German Embassy School in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia. He moved back to Germany in 1987 and attended the secondary school Gymnasium Schloß Hagerhof in Bad Honnef. From 1992 to 1995, Alexander lived in La Paz, Bolivia, where he attended the Colegio Mariscal Braun.
