Maureen Agena is from Uganda. She has lived in three countries and speaks six Uganda languages as well as Swahili and Sign language. She’s a passionate advocate for access to technology and accessibility for disability.
Before joining ISOC Uganda Chapter, she was the Senior Communications Specialist at International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology, icipe, an international research Centre. In this role, she supported the Communications and Creative team in creating content especially breaking down scientific language for non-scientific audiences through story telling for the organization’s social media platforms, website, and publication. Her prior experience includes various communication roles at the World Bank Group, UNFPA, Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM), The Technical Centre for Agriculture and Rural Cooperation (CTA) and Women of Uganda Network.
Maureen manages Internet Society Uganda Chapters’s digital platforms, strategy, and campaigns by expanding and strengthening the online presence and engaging partners and supporters across globe. She holds a BSc in Information Technology, a Msc in Information Systems from Uganda Martyrs University and partly St. Mary’s University, Nova Scotia Canada, and completing an MA in Communications, with
