Carolin Silbernagl is Co-Founder and Chairwoman of dotHIV.

The German charitable association based in Berlin applied for and launched .hiv, a social cause gTLD in support of the fight against AIDS. She began the .hiv initiative in order to raise funds and awareness on HIV and AIDS through digital means, and develop an open, inclusive and consistent Internet namespace for the end of AIDS. .hiv domain names digital Red Ribbons: They work as a charitable addition to a domain name portfolio: all registry surplus is donated to selected HIV projects and showcase the website owner's solidarity. Non-profit organizations working in the field of the HIV and AIDS response receive their .hiv domain name for free. .hiv is the first open gTLD aimed at creating and fostering charitable opportunities. The social impact commitment and non-profit nature of the TLD are an integral part of the TLDs Registry Agreement with ICANN.

In 2015, dotHIV sold .hiv to Uniregistry Corp. to provide the TLD with an ideal foundation for international growth. All social impact commitments stay in place after the transition. Carolin Silbernagl and the dotHIV charitable association keep on supporting the TLD with social impact advice, campaigning activities and as a link the the HIV communities.

Before starting the dotHIV Initiative, Carolin Silbernagl worked as a project manager at sdw (Foundation of German Industries), where she directed the start up qualification program "Herausforderung Unternehmertum".
