I am Mohibul Mahmud, a seasoned IT professional with over 15 years of experience specializing in Internet infrastructure, DNS administration, and cybersecurity. I currently serve as a Cloud Engineer at Microsoft in Canada, where I focus on monitoring, observability, and security practices within cloud environments.

My technical journey began with a foundational role as a Network and DNS Administrator in the ISP sector, where I managed BIND DNS servers and contributed to critical infrastructure projects. One of my notable projects was configuring and optimizing the F Root Server at BDIX in Bangladesh with support from ISC, a key initiative that significantly improved DNS query resolution for the region.

I have also completed ccTLD Name Server Training led by Bill Manning in 2002, which covered BIND updates, DNS troubleshooting, and forward DNS delegation, providing me with a strong foundational knowledge of DNS systems and server management.

At Microsoft, I leverage my technical expertise to design and implement cloud monitoring solutions, ensuring high availability and security for cloud-native applications. Additionally, I am actively involved in Internet governance forums, including ICANN and ARIN. I am currently an ICANN 82 Fellow and an ARIN 52 Fellow, participating in policy discussions, workshops, and technical sessions.

Recently, I expressed interest in contributing to the RSSAC (Root Server System Advisory Committee) at ICANN, where I aim to apply my expertise in DNS operations, root server monitoring, and incident response to enhance the security and stability of the Internet’s unique identifier systems.

I am also involved in translating educational content for underserved communities, collaborating with the Virtual School of Internet Governance (VSIG) to make Internet governance training more accessible in Bengali. I am passionate about contributing to initiatives that align with ICANN’s mission of ensuring a stable and secure global Internet, particularly in areas related to DNS security, root server operations, and observability practices.
