Ward has given multiple talks at the ACM Special Interest Group for University and Colleges Computing Services (SIGUCSS) Conference. He is also the first NextGen @ ICANN from the English-speaking Caribbean countries. Mr. Ward formed Simply Smart Technology Lab to solve simple problems with simple and cost-effective solutions and has implemented and published research in this regard. Mr. Ward is a former IT Specialist at the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology (CIMH) responsible for IT under a USAID funded Project (BRCCC). With CIMH he has led many tutorials and training sessions across the Caribbean region. These talks include those on the use and implementation of Smart Board systems and online teaching platforms. Shamar is Barbados` Male Youth Ambassador to CARICOM (CYA). His research interests lie in computerized automation using low-cost devices and personal efficiency systems where he has implemented smart campus systems at UWICHC such as the campus shuttle tracker. He also has experience in data analysis having worked for and international company which provides multimedia services to millions across the world.
