Jiankang Yao is the Chief Architect on Internationalized Domain Names for CNNIC. He has been working in this position since 2003.[1]

He is one of the Recovery Key Shareholders.[2] He is trusted with the responsibility of keeping the key, which, when combined with the rest of its six DNS keys, can reboot the Internet.[3][4]

Yao attended OARC 2009 Workshop in Beijing,[5] where he gave a presentation titled "IDN TLD Variants Implementation Guideline." He also attended ICANN Nairobi[6] and ICANN Los Angeles.[7]
