PDP-WT is the abbreviation for Policy Development Process Work Team. The PDP-WT is one of the working teams in the Policy Process Steering Committee (PPSC). [1]
The role of the PDP-WT[edit | edit source]
The main role of PDP-WT is to review the existing PDP set forth by the ICANN Bylaws. The PDP-WT also works on tasks like recommending necessary changes that need to be done in the community as well as the Council with the help of the open community working group approach for the sake of the deliberative process.
The goal of the PDP-WT is to develop a new policy and meet the policy development needs of Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). The PDP-WT is also assigned with the tasks such as developing proper operating principles, procedures and rules as and when they are applicable to a new policy development process. It is also tasked with the work of creating a transition or implementing plans. [2]
The PDP-WT Participants[edit | edit source]
The PDP-WT is comprised of members from the GNSO Constituencies, the GNSO Council, and the ICANN community and GNSO Council. There are also two members from the PPSC who serve as liaisons between the PPSC and the PDP-WT.
PDP-WT and ICANN[edit | edit source]
The GNSO makes recommendation to the ICANN Board of Directors through the PDP-WT and as per ICANN bylaws. The PDP-WT needs to be aligned with the contractual requirements of the ICANN’s consensus policies. The working of PDP-WT is also aligned with the ICANN’s strategic and operations plan. [2]
