.gift is a proposed top level domain name to the New gTLD Program of ICANN.

Applicants

  1. Famous Four Media (Dot Gift Limited)- The company is based in Gibraltar and this is one of the 61 new gTLDs it is trying to secure. Its objective is to provide a secure online market place for consumers worldwide to buy gifts over the internet. Neustar has been selected by the company to provide back-end registry services.[1]
  2. Uniregistry, Corp.- It is a new registry company formed by domainer Frank Schilling together with other domain industry veterans to apply for 54 new gTLDs. Schilling personally invested $60 million dollars in the company.[2] Uniregistry plans to operate .gift as a specialty gTLD and it will offer a flat rate fee for domain name registration, fixed price for domain name renewals with no price increases within the first years of its operations. The company's goal is to provide a long-term security, stability, word-class class technical infrastructure, excellent organizational management, low-cost and predictable pricing for registrants engaged in offering gift products and gift ideas under the .gift domain name space. The Internet Systems Consortium will handle the back-end registry services for Uniregistry. [3]
