Dr. Abdulaziz AL-Zoman is an associate professor who works for CITC as an IT Consultant, and is the director and founder of the Saudi Network Information Center. SaudiNIC is responsible of registering domain names under the Saudi ccTLD, .sa and IDN ccTLD, .السعودية (xn--mgberp4a5d4ar).[1]
In 1986, he received his bachelor's degree in computer engineering from the College of Computer and Information Science, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.[2] He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science in 1990 and 1995, respectively, from the University of New Brunswick, Canada.

Dr. Al-Zoman attends and presents at industry conferences, such as those associated with the IGF.[3] He is an expert on IDNs and has worked extensively to implement Arabic based TLDs.[4][5] A list of some his presentations at Industry conferences is found below. His participation in international conferences, such as those related to the WSIS, is often focused on regional issues regarding Arabic IDN implementation and the means to develop the Arab Information Society.[6]

- From May 1986 to Jan 1988, he was with KACST, Computer Center Department, looking after KACSTnet and partially GULFNET.
- From May 1995 to 1998 he was with KACST working as a network and communication consultant for the Directorate of the National Communication Network, a member of the Internet work team, and looking after the NOC/NIC of SaudiNet.
- He was the team leader in 1996-1997 for connecting GULFNET to the Internet and making KACST as an email gateway between the Internet and GULFNET.
- He had a major role in connecting Saudi Arabia to the Internet. He was an active member of the team that designed, managed and built the Internet Services Unit (ISU).
- He provided consulting services to a number of organizations from different sectors, e.g., government offices, education institutes, private companies, and Internet service providers.
- He presented a number of seminars and workshops related to Internet technologies and IDN.
- He was the chairman of the Arabic Linguistic Committee of the Arabic Internet Names Consortium (AINC) and a member of the AINC board. He was the chairman of the Steering Committee of the Arabic Domain Names Pilot Project. He is considered the main supporter of Arabic Domain Names.

Having benefited personally from being educated in Canada, an open and tolerant society, Dr. Al-Zoman wrote, "The applied-for gTLD string (gay) is not welcomed in many societies and communities and is against the law and public morality."[8]
