Stephane is fully bilingual and bicultural, having spent many years living in England and France. He has always been interested in computing and studied Computer Science at Sussex University. He has a Comp. Sc. Degree at B.Sc. level.
Before launching TLD Fastrack Limited, Stéphane was Executive Vice President of StartingDot, the registry operator for the TLDs .archi, .bio and .ski. Stéphane was also General Manager of Indom, a corporate domain registrar which he cofounded in 1999.


Stephane Van Gelder moved back to France after getting his degree and started a career in sports journalism. Motorsports is also a great passion of his and he was a newspaper and television journalist covering motorcycle and car racing at the highest international level for ten years.

Stéphane has been active in Internet governance for years. He was a board member for the French registry AFNIC from 2004 to 2010. He was elected treasurer of ICANN’s Registrar Stakeholder Group in 2008, and that group's European representative on the GNSO Council that same year. Stéphane was elected Vice Chair of the GNSO Council in 2009 and Chair the following year. He was re-elected as GNSO Council Chair at the 2011 Dakar ICANN meeting.
