Application for New gTLD[edit | edit source]
In 2011, the State Government of Victoria announced its plan to submit an application for the .victoria geographical top level domain name (TLD) to the New gTLD Program of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. The government issues a Request for Proposal (RFP) seeking for a partner to submit the application and to manage and operate the TLD under a revenue sharing agreement. [5] ARI Registry Services, a leading registry service provider in Australia won the contract to operate the .victoria TLD. The company hired Ernst and Young and Melbourne IT to help in developing the application for the TLD. [6]

The Government of Victoria has different departments and agencies headed by a Minister. The departments and agencies include: Aboriginal Affairs, Ageing, Education and Early Childhood, Emergency Services, Energy, Environment, Health, Human Services, Industrial Relations, Infrastructure, Justice, Local government, Planning and Community Development, Police, Ports and Waterways, Premier and Cabinet, Primary Industries and Transport.
