.gree is a Community Brand TLD that was proposed in ICANN's New gTLD Program. The applicant was GREE, Inc.,[1] which is a Japanese social networking service, the name comes from the phrase "Six De"gree"s of Separation" postulated by social psychologist Stanley Milgram in 1967, which states that everyone in the world can connect themselves to anyone else on earth through approximately six connections.[2] The company, and hence community, was first established in 2004.

The applicant later withdrew their application for the string.
