Khaled founded the Internet Society chapter in Tunisia in 2006 and served as its President. He has also served on the Board of Trustees of the Internet Society<ref>https://www.internetsociety.org/news/internet-society-announces-new-board-trustees-1</ref> and regularly attends Internet-related events (ICANN, IETF, IGF, etc.). He was elected to represent the African region in the ICANN Nomination Committee<ref>https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/members-ee-2013-11-12-en</ref>, and also serves on the Board of Directors of AfriNIC<ref>http://www.afrinic.net/services/1385-khaled-koubaa</ref>, representing the North African region. Khaled participated in Internet Governance Forums in 2008, 2009 and 2012.
