.forsale is a (GTLD) that was proposed to the New gTLD Program. It was delegated to the Root Zone of the DNS on the 1st October 2014, completing the successful application for the string.[1]
Successful Applicant[edit | edit source]
- Donuts (Sea Oaks, LLC)- This is one of the 307 new gTLDs filed by Donuts. The .forsale string is submitted under the company name Sea Oaks, LLC. The back-end registry solutions will be provided by Demand Media while the DNS and DNSSEC services will be handled by AusRegistry Pty Ltd. The company also partnered with Equinix and SuperNap to provide datacenter facilities and infrastructure, and Iron Mountain for data escrow services.[2][3] This applicant submitted a Public Interest Commitment, which can be downloaded here.
Previous Applicant[edit | edit source]
- DERForsale, LLC- A wholly-owned subsidiary of Dominion Enterprises. Its intention in applying to become the registry operator of the TLD is to provide an intuitive and trusted online marketplace for consumers. The company selected Afilias to serve as back-end registry provider. [4]
Private Auction Resolves Contention[edit | edit source]
DERForsale withdrew their application after an April 2014 private auction that was administered by Applicant Auction, in which Donuts won the rights to the string.[5]
Contract signed[edit | edit source]
On the 22nd May 2014, Donuts received a Registry Agreement signed by ICANN for .forsale after passing the Initial Evaluation.[6]
Delegation[edit | edit source]
.Forsale was delegated to the Root Zone of the DNS on the 1st October 2014, completing the successful application for the string.[7]
