Marcelo Fernandes Costa is a currently a Board Member of the CGI.br. He is also a representive of the third sector and has occupied this position in the last few year as well. [1]

According to the information published in 2010, Marcelo Fernandes Costa was once again chosen as being the representative of the third sector of CGI.br. [2]

Professional Experience[edit | edit source]

Marcelo Fernandes Costa is the founder and chairman of the Committee for Democratization of Information in Pernambuco and executive member for Latin America and the Caribbean Non-Commercial Users Constituency (NCUC).[3] Furthermore,Marcelo is also the founder and director of the Institute of Porto Digital and a leading partner of the Avina Foundation, which is in charge of the social development and leadership improvements for Latin America and the Caribbean.[4]

He also ran as a member and representative of the third sector in the CGI.br in 2007. [5]

According to the publications of CIG.br, Marcelo Fernandes Costa is an Advisor the Brazilian Internet Steering Committee. [6]

Marcelo Fernandes Costa and ICANN[edit | edit source]

Being a board member of the CGI.br, he must stay in touch with the changes imposed byICANN. He also participated to many ICANN meeting, such as the 34th International Public Meeting which took place in Mexico City. At this meeting, he was the representative of CIG.br(Brazilian Internet Steering Committee). [7]
