Christian Wichard is the Deputy Director General at World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).[1]

He holds a masters degree from Harvard Law School and a PhD in law from Tübingen University, Germany. He has previously worked for trademark and unfair competition law in the German Federal Ministry of Justice, and also taught German and international private law at the Universities of Tübingen and Berlin. </ref>ITU</ref>

Career History[edit | edit source]

  • From June1989 to April 1996 he worked as an Asststant Professor at Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen.
  • From September 1992 to May 1995 he was the a Rechtsreferendar (articled clerk) at Oberlandesgericht Stuttgart.
  • From May 1995 to September 1996 he served as an Assistant Professor at Freie Universität Berlin.
  • From September 1996 to October 1998 he was a Legal Adviser at German Federal Ministry of Justice.
  • He served as the Deputy Director at WIPO from November 1998 to July 2006.
  • From August 2006 to November 2009 he served as the Deputy Director General at Federal Ministry of Justice, Berlin, Germany.
  • He has been serving as the Deputy Director General at World Intellectual Property Organization since December 2009.
