ITEMS International is an international independant consulting firm providing consulting services in the field of Information and Communication Technologies.[1] The expertise of ITEMS is Internet, Telecom, Television, Software and IT.[2] ITEMS is based in Paris but also have offices in Rome and Algiers and is represented in UK, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Sweden. The company also works with an international network of correspondents in North America, Latin-America, Asia and Africa.[3] The firm has provided assistance to several other companies develop their ICT strategies and has previously worked with .fr registry known as AFNIC.[4]

Smart Grids Consulting

In cooperation with international partners ITEMS setup Smart Grid Consulting in 2011 to provide consulting assistance. Prior to this ITEMS had the opportunity to provide assistance in the field of Energy regulation and Electric Vehicles. Smart grid Consulting is a consortium exclusively focusing Smart Grids.[5] Smart Grids is the upcoming technology that allows two-way communication between the utility and its customers. These grids are just like the Internet consisting of controls, computers, automation, and new technologies and equipment working together. However these technologies will work with the electrical grid to respond digitally to our quickly changing electric demand.[6]

Global Forum

Global forum is a non-profit initiative started by Items International and the Sophia Antipolis Foundation. It is an international event bringing together experts from all over the world to discuss and share their knowledge on the Economic, Political, Social and Societal issues related to the successful evolution of the Information Society. Global Forum has been organized annually since 1992.[7] The Global Forum 2011 will be held on 7-8 November. details can be found here.

The gTLD Team

ITEMS International being an expert in the field of Internet Governance, has set up a gTLD team in June 2011. This team aims to provide assistance to anyone who wants to apply for the new gTLD space. The organized team has the expertise of Strategy, Marketing, Legal advice, Technological architecture and Business Plan.[8] More than 20 consultants have been hired on the team by ITEMS, including one former ICANN board member and a few other ICANN regulars.[9]
