ICANN 2 was held in Berlin, Germany from between 25-27 May, 1999.

Major Events[edit | edit source]

On may 25, the following ICANN Committees met in Berlin:

Governmental Advisory Committee that represented the Statement of IANA TLD Delegation Practices, prepared by ICANN/IANA staff at the request of the GAC. Membership Advisory Committee

The first meeting of DNSO General Assembly was held in the afternoon in the hotel. A particpation fee of $50 was collected at the door. This participation was take to fund the cost of DNSO related meeting rooms, facilities and webcasting services.[1] The archives of this meeting can be read here

A day long public meeting was held in berlin by the ICANN board of directors. The meeting required no preregistration and was open to all the people who were interested in the meeting. The agendas of this meeting and public comments can be read here

On 27th May the ICANN board held another meeting. The prominent topics of this meetings included:

  • Recognition of Domain Name Supporting Organization Constituency Groups
  • Formation of other Supporting Organizations
  • Independent Review Advisory Committee recommendations
  • WIPO Final Report, including annexes
  • ICANN membership structure
  • Geographic diversity provisions of the ICANN bylaws
  • 1999-2000 ICANN Budget
  • Transition to a permanent Board and CEO
