He was then appointed to lead a team working on commercial information security and information technology standards after the changes in the financial services regulation. He helped in the development of e-business-related legislation particularly the E-commerce Act and the Regulation of Investigatory Powers (RIP) Act.He also initiated the introduction of an accredited certification system and the review standard for BS 7799 (Information Security Management Standard).  In 2000, he joined the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) as head of the E-Business Group. In 2001, he joined the government of Bermuda as adviser for e-Commerce.
