Re: Checking Articles
Great. Thanks, Ali. Caterina
Directi
Great, you'll now want to delete the Directi article from the main talk (discussion) page
Also, please think about what should be in the "reference" section of the company articles. I.e. they should probably be external references. See Wikipedia company articles for examples. Thx Ray
Public Interest Registry
I made some edits to the Public Interest Registry including moving it from Pir.org where you started it. Could you please take a look and let me know what you think? Thanks! TedErnst 22:14, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
- Do you know about the history function? Take a look: http://icannwiki.com/index.php?title=Public_Interest_Registry&action=history
- Two other people edited it after me. It now needs more formatting work, but take a look at it when I finished with it (http://icannwiki.com/index.php?title=Public_Interest_Registry&oldid=224). See what I did? Here are my changes: http://icannwiki.com/index.php?title=Public_Interest_Registry&diff=224&oldid=205

Formatting references
Ray is looking into the Template:Reflist but it's not quite ready yet, so I'd defer formatting references for the moment, and work on other things. Cool? TedErnst 17:46, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
using talk pages
almost ... add to my talk (discussion) page (vs. my user page) and the system will alert me that you've sent me a message, also you can "sign" your message by adding three tilde's at the end Ray
Directi
got your note, please feel free to work on the Directi article until you feel you've done what you can. Leave the PIR article alone for now since someone else is working on that and I want to give them a chance to get it right. Thx Ray
Dotster Article
Two thoughts:
- Can you make the article as NPOV as possible. i.e. when I read "Web and 'Happy Hour' is our way of giving back", I assume that this is text copied from their website and in their words.
- Also, is the Happy Hour thing really that significant to take up that much of the article? Have we covered other important facets of the company? Ray
- I made a few edits here as well. Take a look at what I did? http://icannwiki.com/index.php?title=Dotster&action=history Please let me know if you have questions. TedErnst 16:42, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
- Great! TedErnst 17:19, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
Personal Website
You asked "And one more thing, does the website has to be essentially a personal blog of the person or it can be any website owned by the person, like DNForum for Adam Dicker or Ausregistry.com.au for Adrian Kinderis" -- A personal blog or other type of personal site would be great. If that doesn't exist just leave it blank. I think the site that is affiliated with the person's business would naturally be in the bio so let's not overlap the two. Good question, thanks for asking Ray
References
yes, you're right about my not mentioning the references. and yes, making the content as original, clear and factual as possible is all great. Ray
Muhammad, I've noticed that many of the articles I've come across have not been referenced. If you could begin including refernces in your pages that'd be great. The format for doing so can be found on most pages. I was hoping you could start doing this whenever you bring your next batch over. thanks Andrew
Completing articles
ah, sorry i was jumping the gun, will give you more time first :-)
Marking articles
Ali,
Let's do this, when you are done with an article, mark it with an "A". When I've had a chance to review it, I'll mark it also with an "R". I think this will reduce confusion :-) Ray
- :-)
Jeremy Caricature
I think when you uploaded the pic, it somehow got 2 .jpg extensions, so I just added the other one. Looks weird in the code but works :-) Ray
Hi
ray [at] aboutus.org, send me an e-mail there Ray
Placeholder pics
Ali, you're right, let's be more consistent, so we now have:
New editor on the project
FYI, Andrew Merriam Apm is a Portland based person who has just joined the project. Initially he'll be helping me edit the articles. So I just wanted to give you a heads up so you're not surprised. Ray
Hi Muhammad. I'm excited to work with you and though you may not know it your pages have really been helping me get a handle on the site! I'll try to explain my edits, and thus far it seems like I'm mostly adding references and removing certain bullets. Other changes are just personal aesthetic choices and I'm sure we'll all be going back and forth about the various editing choices available. Andrew Merriam
Please check
- Portaits and Caricatures for the people articles you've just completed
- Category Country for the same
Thanks Ray
- Super! Thanks Ray
- Could you check all of the people articles you've done for category people and country? Thanks Ray
Redirect from the ICANNWiki.org site
Hi, I continue to appreciate all your work but noticed that you had not redirected from the old article pages at ICANNwiki.org to the .com site for your most recent set of articles. I'll take care of the 4 that you've already brought over. Please don't forget this important step! Thanks. Andrew
I thought that might be the case. Thanks for letting me know. Andrew
Current Work
After reviewing the work you've done recently I really want to thank you for your dedication to the project. You've done a great job of bringing over the bulk of the important information. However, I would like to encourage you to dig just a bit deeper in including useful content. Going on past the first or second page of Google search results can turn up some important stuff. Keep up the good work! Andrew
blanking pages
Ali, just wondering why you sometimes blank pages? Ray
- ah, ok, thanks for the explanation :-)
