Appearance
.de is the ccTLD for Germany. The letters "de" come from the country's name in German, Deutschland. It is managed by DENIC eG.[1]
Rules and Restrictions[edit | edit source]
A .de Domain Holder has the following obligations:
- in submitting the application for registration of a domain, the Domain Holder gives an explicit assurance that all the data about them in the application is correct and that they are entitled to register and/or use the domain and, in particular, that the registration and intended use of the domain does not infringe anybody else’s rights nor break any general law;
- if the Domain Holder is not domiciled in Germany, they shall name within two weeks of a corresponding request by DENIC an authorized representative domiciled in Germany for receiving the service of official or court documents who shall have the same rights as defined for an authorized representative for receiving the service of official or court documents. The appointment of the authorized representative shall be made to the person who wishes to arrange for service and shall be addressed to that person via DENIC. The information to be stated shall include the name of the authorized representative for receiving the service of official or court documents and their full postal address; specifying a post-office box number is not sufficient.[2]
Characters[edit | edit source]
- The minimum length is one character;
- the maximum length is 63 characters;
- all letters of the Latin alphabet, the digits from 0 to 9, the hyphen - as well as all 93 characters of the list for internationalized domains (IDNs) are allowed
- the first character, the last character, the third AND the fourth character must not be hyphens.[3]
