The company announced its interest to apply for the .harmburg string during the ICANN 33 meeting in Cairo in November, 2008. [2] The company selected Nic.at, Austrian-based company as its back-end registry service provider. Olive Süme expressed its confidence to the technical capabilities of Nic.at. According to him, "The knowledge that the technical side of things is in safe hands is an important criteria for potential investors looking to invest in .hamburg. The presence of nic.at ensures that the very best registry technology is at our disposal – providing long term stability and safeguarding the future of the .hamburg top level domain." [3] However, their final application shows that they chose TLD-Box as their technical provider.[4]
