BBN (Bolt, Beranek and Newman) now Raytheon BBN Technologies is one of the leading Research and Development companies in the United States dedicated in providing high-technology products and services to consumers. BBN was one of the research companies involved in the development of ARPANET, which became the internet. History
MIT professor Richard Bolt and Leo Boranek together with Robert Newman, Bolt's former student co-founded an acoustic consulting firm in 1948. The first project of the company was the acoustic design for the United Nations Assembly Hall in 1949.
