Key-Systems is an ISP and hosting company. It was founded in 1998 by Alexander Siffrin and received it's accreditation from ICANN as an official registrar in October, 2000. The German company has subsidiaries in the USA and Mexico and provides services to its end-customers and resellers through its three domain portals: RRPproxy, BrandShelter, and domaindiscount24. As of May, 2011, Key-Systems has over 3,2 million gTLD & ccTLD domains under its management. There are another 1 million domain names registered by companies of the Key-Systems Group. The ICANN CEO Search Committee was formed following Rod Beckstrom's August 2011 announcement that he will not continue as CEO past the fulfillment of his term, completed on 1 July 2012. The topic of CEO succession planning was first discussed at a Board meeting on 17 September 2011, where they directed the Board Governance Committee to appoint members to a CEO Search Process Management Work Committee. The committee is contracting with search firm Odgers Berndtson in Brussels, who will be handling application inquiries and expressions of interest. In January 2012, ICANN began openly advertising the position in places such as The Economist.
