Maria Puy is a lawyer and civil-law or latin notary, currently working as a Chief Notary in Argentina. Her responsibilities include providing advice and also drafting, authenticating and registering legal instruments. She has been involved in IT and computer law since her undergraduate studies and has gone on to study and work in a variety of well-known and prestigious programs. She wrote a dissertation on "The Electronic and Digital Signature as authentication methods", and subsequently pursued a Ph.D. in Law. During this time she successfully completed the OAS online course on e-government and also had the opportunity to take part in the 2010 DiploFoundation Internet Governance Capacity Building Programme -Foundation and Advanced Phases. She expects to continue on in the Research phase in order to advance her knowledge of cybersecurity. She has also been awarded a fellowship to attend the South School on Internet Governance as part of the ISOC Next Generation Leaders Program. She is involved in ISOC Argentina.[1][2]

Ms. Puy was an ICANN Fellow at ICANN 39 in Cartagena,[3] and again at ICANN 44 in Prague.[4]
