TK Tan ('TK') is widely known as the domain name industry pioneer in Asia. He is the CEO of Qinetics Solutions Berhad[1] and Web Commerce Communications Limited dba WebNIC.CC.[2] As the CEO of Qinetics Group since the year 2002, TK has founded several Internet businesses, namely wholesale platform for resellers (WebNIC), Registry-Registrar Platform (RegistryASP) and Managed IT Service Provider (Qloud).

Work With Qinetics and WebNIC

As CEO of Qinetics, TK is responsible for planning and executing its corporate strategy, operations, and its business and product development. He joined Qinetics in 2000, and he founded Qinetics' WebNIC.CC Premier Partner Program, which is an Asian one-stop ccTLD and gTLD ICANN registrar for resellers.

Mr. Tan has been influential in creating new deals and business opportunities for the company; and he attributes their success to their price competitiveness, technical strengths, their experience in Registry-Registrar solutions, and involvement in developments like IDN deployment.[3]

TK and his team were able to establish Qinetics as the only Malaysian registrar certified to register .asia domains.[4] These days, TK has shown keen interest in nurturing new talents for the Internet business. He is the current President of Internet Alliance, an association of leading Internet services and e-commerce providers in Malaysia.

Background

TK has over 20 years of experience in business strategy, product development and solution proposition in IT fields. In 2004, TK conceptualized the development of RegistryASP, a Shared Registry-Registrar System solution for the worldwide community of ccTLD and gTLD registries and registrars. He has also worked as the Senior Consultant and Key Account Manager at Diversified Gateway Berhad.[5] TK is a triathlete and he enjoys travelling with family and friends.
