Anand Raje is a technology entrepreneur, solution architect, mentor having 18+ years of experience in Software Engineering and Internet technology architecture, development and innovative implementations. He is co-founder, Director of BASIS Technologies Pvt. Ltd. and co-founder CTO India Internet Foundation. He was earlier worked as Senior Consultant - NIC WBSC, E-Governance Projects, VeHere Interactive and NIIT as Security and Academic Consultant, Cyber Peace Foundation as Head-Internet Governance Initiatives. Raje is associated with various professional organizations and communities - Internet Society[1], ICANN[2], IETF[3], Hyperledger Kolkata[4].

Raje is outreaching community as technical trainer[5][6][7], panelist[8][9][10], and speaker[11][12][13][14][15][16][17] on different platforms frequently, contributing in various Internet Governance stakeholder groups.

ICANN 55 in Marrakech, Morocco was Raje's first ICANN Meeting at which he was an ICANN Fellow[18]. He was also selected for and completed Internet Society's Next Generation Leaders program.[19]. Currently he has been selected for the 2022 Mid Career Fellowship Program[20] of Internet Society.

Major Works & Accomplishments[edit | edit source]

Raje worked on large-scale e-governance G2C, G2G problem statements involving GIS, IoT, e-Payment solutions for various government departments and enterprises. Researched and applied optimized algorithms for cryptographic framework implementations. Raje's professional experience encompasses technology consulting to enterprises, governments, law enforcement agencies, Internet Services organizations, Internet Exchange Points, Academia & Research Institutions. His leadership experience blends with technology innovations and an interest in volunteering for societal causes and capacity development.[21][19]

Raje has participated in as well as organized multiple International Technology forums, workshops and conferences, and he has received fellowships from ICANN, ISOC, APRICOT[22][23], APSIG[24] and IETF[25]. He was involved in implementing Indian IETF Capacity Building Program (IICB), which aims to increase awareness of Internet standards and Protocols in engineering students, so as to increase participation in IETF activities. Contributed towards hosting South Asia Network Operators Group (SANOG 34[26][27]), INSIG 2019[28] and India Internet Week 2019 in Kolkata. His technical community contributions involve contributing towards hosting India’s first L-Root anycast instance[29], community Internet Exchange IIFON Kolkata IX[30]. Raje is featured in ICANN, ICANNWiki [31]and ISOC APAC Newsletters[32].

Raje holds NIELIT (National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology) B Level and Master of Computer Science Degree from Annamalai University, as well as various professional certifications DSCI DCPLA, CSSP, CCNSP.[19]. Participated in different technology workshops of ICANN, APNIC, NSRC, APSIG[24] on IPv6, DNS/DNSSEC, BGP, IXP, Internet Governance.

Current Research Areas[edit | edit source]

Raje is currently involved in Internet resiliency and measurement research involving DNS, IoT and next generation Internet artifacts. He has contributed in researching and architecting indigenous Internet Measurement Network (https://aiori.in) which can support measurements for DNS, IoT, Anycast networks [33] and can be used by researchers, academia and different stakeholders in optimizing network performance.

APNIC 54 Singapore - Selected Topic: Advanced Internet Operations Research in India (AIORI) : Large scale measurement of performance matrices is important to understand the performance of the network and quality of Internet experience by end-users. AIORI (Advanced Internet Operations Research in India) program has created a network of devices (anchors) deployed across India and Internet measurement platform that actively measures Internet connectivity and reachability, providing an unprecedented understanding of the state of the Internet in real time. Starting in 2021, 85 anchors have been deployed across India till now with another 500 in pipeline the program helps in improving our understanding of the Internet as a whole and intends to benefit end-users, researchers, network owners and policy makers.[35]
